Jupiter moves into the fire sign of Aries on June 6th. This is the beginning of a new 12 year developmental cycle, individually and collectively of growth, faith, and opportunity fueled by the will and courage to set forth and begin anew.
Jupiter presents us with the question, where have we been underestimating ourselves? Can we individually and collectively open ourselves up to an inspired vision of a brighter future; of new potential yet unexplored? And can we find the initiative and courage (Aries) to bring that vision into reality?
When we are engaged with the energy of Jupiter it is always wise to remember the potential for over extension which can lead to getting in over one’s head. And also keep in mind the lower expression of Aries, which includes insensitivity and rage, especially when combined with fear taking over.
MARS IN VIRGO
On June 7th Mars the planet of courage and passion entered the earth sign of Virgo. Mars also represents our ability to create boundaries, healthy or otherwise. Wherever Mars moves through the birthchart is where you may have to stand up for yourself. It also is where you may begin to take some action and where your passion can be directed. Mars activates and energies.
Mars in Virgo provides the drive to carefully analyze a situation and then take the action and do the work necessary to create improvement and a better outcome. It is also the energy that each of us can engage with to develop something within ourselves individually and collectively with skillful excellence; some gift that can then be brought to others in some form of service.
FULL MOON LUNAR ECLIPSE
The big news this month is the Full Moon Lunar Eclipse in the sign of Capricorn on June 26th. This lunar event is going to bring a level of heightened emotional intensity to the T-square created from Pluto in Capricorn, and the Saturn in Virgo, Uranus in Aries opposition. Think of power, structure, and freedom, three heavyweights all with their own agenda. This is incredibly compelling. With the emotional energy of this eclipse it promises some fertile ground for significant changes down the road individually and collectively. Let’s look at this a bit further…
First let’s look at the opposition between Saturn in Virgo and Uranus in Aries.Oppositions create awareness and even tension between the two planetary energies. As if they are sitting across a room from each other in their own corner sizing each other up.
Saturn represents structure, form, authority and discipline. It is the wise elder, but can also be the tyrant. And in the sign of Virgo, the high expression is for Saturn seeking to make things better through methodical analysis of what is and what could be; then doing the work necessary to accomplish that end result. There is also a critical edge to Virgo energy that when taken to extremes is more of the lower expression and can work against itself, collapsing any improvement, if left unchecked.
Uranus represents independence from approval, freedom, change, the breaking down of the old to create the new; it is the process of individuation. It is the genius, but also can be the rebel without a cause. Now having just moved into the sign of Aries on May 27th the high expression of Uranus seeks courage through assertiveness, the ability to take action in a crisis, and the stress of taking a risk and going to the limit. When courage fails the lower expression of Aries arises in rage, insensitivity, and even violence.
These two planets are quite opposite in their meaning; so the fact that they are also in an aspect of an opposition increases the tension between them, and now has the added energy of Jupiter (having moved into the sign of Aries June 6th) conjunct Uranus. Jupiter represents growth, optimism, and faith.Jupiter asks the question “Where are you underestimating yourself?” “Can you dream bigger and better than ever before, and can you achieve it?” Jupiter in all of it’s glorious expansive hope for the future can over extend and over indulge to the point of landing in troubled waters. In Aries, the high expression of courage can feed the dream of new opportunity; and the caving in of courage can result in a bruising of hope and faith that fed the dream.
Now in understanding these opposing energies better we now look at Pluto in the sign of Capricorn making a square aspect to Saturn and Uranus conjunct Jupiter. This square aspect creates friction and a sense of crisis. This compelling quality provides opportunity for growth through sometimes difficult decisions.
Pluto is our power; it transforms sometimes through brutal methods. We can either use it to deepen the meaning of our existence, or we can use it over others for exploitive personal gain; either consciously or unconsciously.By recognizing and shining light on the lower expression of the sign it is transiting through, Pluto provides the potential for deep healing and transformation showing us the path for bringing profound meaning into our lives.
The high expression of Capricorn energy is integrity, where the outer experience of life reflects the inner value system. Where self discipline, patience, and persistence result in something solid and meaningful. Where some level of authority has been acquired. The lower expression of Capricorn is when the inner value system has become overshadowed or lost and the image of one at the top, caught up in the power of controlling others, all alone, and no time to enjoy life can come to mind.
In bringing the pieces of this configuration together we have Saturn representing the wisdom and structure, but also the rigidity of what has long been in place in tension with Uranus and Jupiter, the genius, freedom, and hope of trying something radically new and different, but also the potential of tearing down too much too soon. The success of the opposition is to find that middle ground, hopefully that can be satisfying to both ends. Can we discern what structures (Saturn) should be held onto as we realize there needs to be something new and more authentic (Uranus,Jupiter) brought into the picture? This is a question that is being asked of every individual within their own lives; and is reflected in some area of the birthchart. We are also as a group consciousness being asked this question.
This aspect is very reflective of many of the world situations right now. One in particular is our environment and the impact we’ve created through the values and structures that have been in place. We have reached a critical point in many parts of the world; certainly in our own Gulf of Mexico with the ongoing oil spill. We are receiving a loud message that there needs to be real change and new ways of creating energy.
Pluto is sitting between them, creating friction and potentially blocking through unyielding power and control this long term growing tension between; well essentially the known and the unknown. This is very compelling. Can Pluto be the path of transformation for these two energies to come together and travel down finding a higher truth and purpose? Could this be fueled by integrity and the need to create something of lasting value and purpose; of getting serious and doing the right thing?Or will the power and authority (Capricorn) of Pluto be misused for self serving purposes? Again we are being asked this within our own birthchart and our own lives.Collectively this question is equally pressing.
On June 26th when we have the full moon (partial) eclipse in the sign of Capricorn and making an exact conjunction (energies are fused and intensified) there will be a powerful emotional charge that will create experience and significant changes resulting down the road. What will that look like?
Individually and collectively we have the opportunity to consciously interact with these potent energies and dilemmas. My hope is that with a greater awareness we can engage with more of the higher expression of these energies and find answers that create the best outcomes for each of us, and all of us together.
